Bandar Sunway, 18 July 2007 - Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn. Bhd. introduces the Yamaha 135LC Extreme Spirit, a manual hand clutch model today to members of the media. An exciting addition to the current Yamaha 135LC which was first launched in 2006, the hand clutch version is expected to increase Yamaha’s share and is part of Hong Leong Yamaha’s aggressive plans to further establish itself in the 4-stroke moped segment. The Malaysian motorcycle industry has been enjoying robust growth over the last few years and 2007 so far has proven to be an encouraging year. This, despite the motorcycle industry having only grown by 2% for the first half of this year to 238,191 units against 233,749 units for the same corresponding period of last year. “Yamaha recorded 84,245 units or 35% market share for the first half of 2007. Our 4-stroke moped segment market share had further increased to 27% fuelled by the strong demand of the 135LC model,” said Mr CH Ng, Managing Director of Hong Leong Yamaha. This positive uptake for Yamaha models provides the impetus for Hong Leong Yamaha to challenge its current position to move even further ahead of the competition. The introduction of the 135LC Extreme Spirit will give Hong Leong Yamaha the competitive edge to further expand sales in the 4-stroke moped segment. “Fulfilling customers requests is the key for any product success and the introduction of the 135LC Extreme Spirit fits this objective. It provides customers a sense of fun and enjoyment in riding,” said CH Ng.
The 135LC Extreme Spirit comes with many new features like floating type 267mm diameterlarger front disc brake with 2 pot caliper for better braking response. A front fork stabilizer
promises stability whilst a linkage type sporty gear change gives the rider a sporty riding feel.
For a sportier look, there is a tiltable type sporty footrest for better bank angle when
sweeping corners. The clutch lever incorporates a safety feature with a safety switch to
prevent accidental starts while the gear is engaged. The 135LC Extreme Spirit is stylishly attractive with bold new colors and graphics. There is a hot Red or a cool Blue color choice for customer selection. Its blue tinted lens for headlight, tail lights and front flashers complement its overall trendiness. The Yamaha 135LC Extreme Spirit is competitively priced at RM 5,988 (basic sales price excludes road tax, insurance & number plate) and is now available at all authorized Yamaha dealerships nationwide.
